1. Be useful. Be honest. Be a hero.
BeerHero works when local information is current, specific and respectful. These Guidelines apply to usernames, avatars, prices, notes, photos, check-ins, votes, reports, support tickets and all other submissions. They supplement the Terms of Use.
2. Share accurate, first-hand information
- Submit a price you observed at the named venue, with the correct brand/product, serving type, volume, currency and happy-hour status.
- Use the observation date—not an old menu date. Mark draft, bottle and can accurately.
- Upload genuine menu evidence without edits that change meaning. Do not reuse another venue’s menu.
- Check in only when physically near the venue. Never spoof location.
- Vote “accurate” or “outdated” based on evidence, not friendship, rivalry or rewards.
- Describe uncertainty plainly. Do not present rumors as facts.
Minor mistakes happen; deliberate fabrication, coordinated manipulation and repeated careless submissions may result in removal or account restriction.
3. Respect people, venues and responsible drinking
Do not post harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech, degrading stereotypes, sexual harassment, graphic violence or encouragement of self-harm. Never target someone because of protected characteristics. Do not pressure anyone to drink, celebrate dangerous consumption, promote drinking and driving, or involve minors in alcohol-related activity.
Criticism of a venue must focus on relevant first-hand facts. Do not organize brigading, retaliation or harassment of staff, owners, contributors or moderators. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services—not BeerHero.
4. Protect privacy and intellectual property
- Do not share phone numbers, home addresses, private messages, payment details, government IDs, precise live location or other private information.
- Do not photograph identifiable people as the subject without appropriate permission.
- Do not upload confidential staff information or private venue systems.
- Submit only content you created or are allowed to use. Respect copyright, trademarks, image rights and database rights.
Reports may contain necessary context but should not expose unrelated personal data.
5. No hidden promotion, spam or conflicts
Undisclosed advertising, referral spam, repetitive promotion, fake reviews and paid/coordinated manipulation are prohibited. Venue owners, employees, agencies and people receiving benefits must not present promotional content as an independent customer contribution. BeerHero may label, limit or remove conflicted content.
6. Protect platform integrity
Do not use bots, scripts, multiple accounts, vote rings, location spoofing or exploits to obtain points, badges or ranking. Do not probe security, bypass moderation, evade a ban or encourage others to violate these rules. Report security issues privately through Support rather than publishing exploit details.
7. How enforcement works
Depending on severity, context, history and risk, BeerHero may:
- reduce a contribution’s trust weight or request correction/evidence;
- hide, reject, remove or de-identify content;
- issue a warning or temporarily restrict features;
- suspend or permanently ban an account;
- preserve and disclose information when legally required or necessary for credible safety threats.
Severe abuse may lead directly to removal or banning. Automated signals may help prioritize review, but consequential moderation can be reviewed by an administrator. Enforcement may evolve as abuse patterns change.
8. Reporting, blocking and appeals
Use the three-dot report menu on a comment, profile or venue and select the most accurate reason. A reported item is visually suppressed for the reporting user while review is pending where the product supports it. Do not file knowingly false or retaliatory reports.
For an appeal, privacy concern, intellectual-property notice or issue that does not fit an in-app report, open a ticket at Profile → Contact BeerHero or email support@beerhero.app. Include the relevant venue/content, what happened and any supporting context. We aim to review reports fairly but cannot promise a particular outcome or response time.
